ABode Hotels are located in the heart of Canterbury, Chester, Exeter, Glasgow and Manchester. Each ABode Hotel is individual in design. Their distinctive interiors have been designed to offer unique hotels which embrace the heritage of the building in which they are set, whilst at the same time offering a contemporary experience that reflects their city centre location.
Initially Andrew Brownsword Hotels were only looking for HD CCTV within a couple of properties within the ABode Group. These sites had existing analogue CCTV in parts of the building already, but had been added to over the years putting a huge strain on the DVR’s.This had become more of an issue when footage was needed, in the case of any incident.Like most 10 to 20-year-old Analogue CCTV Systems the playback was poor at best, and you never had coverage of the area’s most at risk.After consulting with Matthew Leggatt the Group Maintenance Manager, it was apparent that major changes were required…
The main issues from the start was the building themselves… Due to the unique and high standard of service that Andrew Brownsword Hotels provide, and considering the heritage and listing of the buildings. Any installation work was going to be very difficult. After many meetings and surveys the final solution was put forward…
Cabling the properties from new was never going to be an option. So how were we going to utilise the existing infrastructure to our advantage… Working with our partner Hik Vision, we found that there had just released a Tribrid NVR which had the capability of viewing existing Analogue, IP HD & Turbo cameras from the same device (Turbo or AHD cameras are capable of providing up to 3MP over existing coaxial cable).This meant that the Analogue cameras could be upgraded to HD units without the need to replace the cabling.
Any additional cameras would be installed utilising the redundant IT Network cabling (all the properties had movement from structured cabling to wireless WIFI Access Points). For the initial Hotels, this proved incredibly effective and provided the client with a HD CCTV system which was also had the ability to be viewed remotely.
The Group now have 90% of their properties covered by HD CCTV which provides effective coverage for the safety of staff and guests.
